How to Use Essential Oils with Carrier (Base Oil) Oils

What is a Base Oil?

Base Oils are precious oils, extracted from fruits, nuts, and seeds. They have a composition similar to the natural properties of the sebaceous matter of your skin, and when applied, help strengthen the skin's natural defenses. They are rich in essential fatty acids, lecithin, vitamins and vital substances.

What are they used for?

By themselves, base oils infuse the skin with copious amounts of moisture. They also are great for blending with essential oils. Because most essential oils cannot be applied directly to the skin, a carrier or base oil is needed to deliver the benefits of the essential oil. A few drops of an essential oil added to a base oil can be used for massage, a hair treatment or in the bath.

It's best to select a Base Oil that is right for your skin type.
