By themselves, carrier oils infuse the skin with copious amounts of moisture. They also are great for blending with essential oils. Because most essential oils cannot be applied directly to the skin, a carrier or base oil is needed to deliver the benefits of the essential oil. A few drops of an essential oil added to a carrier oil can be used for massage, a hair treatment or in the bath.
